I'm Thankful For...

We have a lot to be thankful for, this year and every year. In honor of Thanksgiving this year, we wanted to reflect on what we’re thankful for in our careers.

I’m thankful for…

parents who are proud of me, even though they will never fully understand what I do for a living.

I’m thankful for…

a husband who is a cheerleader, but who also calls me out when I’m over indexing on design as my life.

I’m thankful for…

my husband who admires and supports my career as well as my role in our family as the “breadwinner,” even though our relationship does not follow traditional roles.

I’m thankful for…

my otherwise conservative parents, for encouraging and supporting me with my education and career so I can stand on my own two feet, instead of forcing me to take a culturally traditional path (which isn't so supportive of the above!)

I’m thankful for…

my middle aged, white, experienced, male hiring manager for hiring me - a younger, colored, not so experienced female - and giving me the chance to work in a global company surrounded by support.

I’m thankful for…

my current manager. He taught me that I am human before I am an employee, that my life outside of work matters more than my productivity.

I’m thankful for…

my current manager for listening to me and taking my problems seriously - and acting on them straight away in a safe and respectful manner.

I’m thankful for…

my former team at my last job who always showed me how valuable of an employee I was and could be, and who taught me how to start those difficult conversations with leaders at my current workplace.

We’re thankful for a community that continues to support and empower us. We’re thankful for you!

What are you thankful for this year?
